Primary Program
Ages 3-6


The Primary Program at Montessori by the Sea provides a curriculum that allows children to develop social skills, self respect, emotional awareness, independence and respect for others. Children are allowed to move and work independently in the classroom, encouraging self motivation and self discipline.


Using methods and materials developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, the teacher provides an individualized sequence of tasks designed to challenge and engage the child in independent learning.  These tasks are broken down into five areas of learning: practical life, sensorial, mathematics, language, and cultural subjects (science, geography, history, music, art).

Practical Life - enables the child to develop:

Sensorial - enables the child to develop:

  • Sense of Order
  • Discriminate and Refine the five senses
  • Prepare for future math and language work

Elementary Program
Grades 1 thru 3

The Elementary Program at Montessori by the Sea provides the children with a “Montessori Cosmic Curriculum”. As the child moves into a new stage of learning he/she begins to ask “why and how” do things happen. The child seeks answers to why life is the way it is. The curriculum allows the child to explore theories and understand “how and why”. All subjects integrate into each other and create a fluid learning environment.

Programs Available

Primary (Ages 3 - 6) 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. OR 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3) 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
The Montessori classroom experience for all of the above programs is for five (5) consecutive days per week, in order to allow the spontaneous learning of the child to flow smoothly
